The brief
Our challenge with this ground-up vehicle project was to rethink our flagship bicycle to be more approachable, intuitive, and easier to maintain as a fleet. We also wanted to give riders an easy way to navigate with their phone, since our research and app usage showed they wanted this.

Our team worked with our user-research team to understand which features resonated with our users and which did not.
Phone Mount Concept
One key feature of this vehicle is the phone mount. After researching the available options already in existence, the design process began with concept sketching and prototyping the most promising ideas
Phone Mount Research and Testing
We prototyped and tested each phone mount concept with riders. The sliding clamp was the clear favorite.

Final Concept
In addition to being incredibly intuitive, robust, and easy to maintain, the LimeBike and LimeGlider share the same bike chassis and componentry except for the drivetrain, seat, and covers, which streamlined the introduction of two inclusive yet distinctly different ride experiences to Lime’s fleet.
